The crash took place around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, on East Market Street at the intersection with Baxter Road in the village of Red Hook, said Red Hook Police.
Investigating officers determined that a 2002 Ford driven by Dylan Gop, 25, of Grayville, and a 21-year-old passenger, were westbound on East Market Street when the vehicle left the roadway and struck the telephone pole, police said in a release.
The passenger suffered facial and head injuries and was transported to Northern Dutchess Hospital for treatment.
Gop, who was also found to be in possession of marijuana, was charged with possession of marijuana, as well as using a cell while driving, failure to keep right, and unsafe speed. He was issued tickets and released.
Red Hook was assisted on scene by the Red Hook Fire Company and Northern Dutchess Paramedics.
